The child is afraid of the dentist

"LEVIKA" is a family dental clinic so we pay a lot of attention to children and have a modern children's ward. You can come to our clinic with your baby from the age of 6 months. Our highly qualified pediatric dentists will teach your child how to care for baby teeth properly.

Early visit to a dentist will help you to prevent stomatophobia (fear of dental treatment). Growing up, your child will be under the supervision of a specialist who knows how to establish close psychological connection with children and build positive and responsible attitude to their health. Given the fact that a dentist is one of the first physicians, whom your child meets in the life, care about the tooth condition is a valuable contribution to the future health. Pediatric dentist does not only treat cavities, he also gives recommendations on how to prevent tooth decay and further complications.

Fissure sealing is one of the most common and effective ways of treatment. Some surfaces of the tooth cannot be easily accessed with a toothbrush because of the anatomical structure. It mostly concerns grinding teeth. Fissures are grooves on the surface of grinding teeth. They can be quite deep and narrow. Deep fissures create a good environment for the oral bacteria and, therefore, progress. Bacteria, "receiving" sugar-containing food and beverages, multiply quickly and form plaque. A toothbrush cannot clean these deep fissures.

Fissure sealing (hermetization) is a prophylactic measure, which consists in fissure disinfection (without enamel damage) and filling it with a liquid photopolymer (sealant), which will extract certain minerals into the enamel. After the eruption, the enamel of all teeth is able to absorb and accumulate minerals from the saliva and continues to "maturate" during the next year. The sealant uses this ability. To achieve the best effect, it is recommended to perform sealing immediately after the eruption or within a year after the eruption.

Other preventative treatment, deep penetration fluoridation, is based on the sane enamel property after the eruption. A special solution is applied periodically on the surface of the enamel of the baby teeth with subsequent use of commercial forms at home.

We hope that we have convinced you of the need to bring your baby to our pediatric dentist as early as possible. The greatest joy for us is to see healthy smiles on the faces of your kids!

First Time at the Pediatric Dentist — Tips for Parents.

1. Schedule the first visit to a dentist to get acquainted. It is important that your child and a dentist became friends. If a dentist and your child do not get along well, try to contact other specialists of our clinic.

2. Tell your child about the visit to a dentist in 1 - 2 days, not earlier, because otherwise your child may start to worry or hear "horror stories" from other children.

3. Play dentist with your child. First, you play dentist and then you switch roles. Observe the child. Please note that playing a doctor, the child acts like he or she expects a doctor to act. It can also be seen in the game when the child "treats teeth of the toys". This way you will be able to help a doctor to establish contact with your child by telling a doctor about behavior features or expectations of the child, which you have noticed during the game.

4. Try not to worry. Kids are very susceptible to your mood. If you cannot cope with your own anxiety, let the child go to the clinic will another family member. This person should feel comfortable at a dentist's and your child should trust him or her.

5. A visit to a dentist should be an ordinary event. Going to a dentist, behave as always.

6. Tell your child only the truth. If this visit is to get acquainted, tell that you will meet a new doctor. Always tell a doctor about your agreement with the child! If the visit is for treatment, come up with an interesting fairy-tale about teeth and bacteria that can destroy teeth. For example, let a doctor in your story be a Fairy Queen or other magical character.

7. Do not use "scary words", for example: injection, drilling machine, drill, remove, anesthesia. Children will not understand it. A dentist individually decides what to tell your child.

8. Your child should feel good, sleep well and be in a good mood before the visit to a dentist. Let your child take a favorite toy to the clinic.

9. If the child already knows how to care about the oral cavity, it will be easy to take a visit to a dentist, which is part of your dental care.

In the clinic.

1. Come a bit earlier, 5 minutes before the visit.

2. Show your child the clinic and if there is a children's play area where your child wants to play, paly there.

3. Show warmth and friendliness to a doctor and staff.

4. In the office, let a dentist be a boss. Listen carefully to the advice.

5. If you found your doctor, stay friends.

Be healthy and good luck!
